Cold insurance behind hot cloud

I use iCloud or Google Drive (hot backup / sync) but need an ultra-low-cost cold backup to protect what really matters.

🏠

Off-site DR for self-hosted NAS

I run my own NAS and need off-site disaster recovery to guard against natural disasters, fire, flood, or theft wiping everything at once.

🎬

Cold storage for raw footage

I have lots of unedited raw footage. After editing and rendering I’m afraid to delete the originals β€” but keeping them eats too much space.

FAQ

What is end-to-end encryption?

Files are encrypted on your device with your password before upload. The cloud only stores ciphertext. Neither we nor Amazon can read your content. If you forget the password, data cannot be recovered.

Why does retrieval take 12–48 hours?

We use Amazon S3 Deep Archive cold storage to ensure the lowest price. Browsing thumbnails is instant; downloading originals requires a thaw of up to 48 hours.

What are diamonds for?

Thaw + download bandwidth is per-byte variable cost. Diamonds (1000 β‰ˆ $1) let you pay for that variable cost separately from monthly capacity.

Which platforms are supported?

iOS 16+ now. Android in v1.1.

What if I forget my password?

Your login password is resettable by email. The encryption password is NOT resettable β€” if forgotten, your backups cannot be decrypted. Save it in a password manager or iCloud Keychain.

How does auto-deduplication work?

Identical files upload only once. The ciphertext hash is checked on upload β€” if the same encrypted content already exists, the second upload is skipped and not billed twice. End-to-end encryption is preserved: only the ciphertext is compared, never the plaintext.
